Woodland's Charlie Karolia wins Trucker of the Year 2017
A huge congratulations to Woodland’s driver Charlie Karolia who in December 2017 was awarded “Trucker of the Year 2017” by Trucking Magazine, a monthly industry magazine allowing truck drivers across the UK to give recognition to those fellow drivers who’ve made a difference throughout the year.
Charlie set up and manages the Facebook Group Truck Mate UK to offer a platform to drivers across the UK to connect, exchange information and entertainment creating a supportive, inclusive online community for all those doing long hours behind the wheel.
Charlie commented: “I was nominated by a fellow driver to Trucking magazine who hold this award annually. Drivers have to phone in to place their votes. I received a phone call on 12th December from Jack Chapman (Trucking Magazine Marketing Manager) who congratulated me on being voted TOTY 2017. I set up a Truck Mate Group on Facebook which now has 4,724 members and the site is used to create banter between Truckers and can ease the pressure and loneliness of the working day. I think the set up of this Group is one of the reasons I was nominated and also due to the Charity work I am involved in.”
We would like to encourage everyone to join us in congratulating Charlie on receiving this award – a recognition to be proud of, and a true reflection of Charlie’s engagement at the workplace and beyond.
