Risk Management: Brown Marmorated Stink Bug Season (BMSB)

Goods manufactured in or shipped as sea cargo from a target risk country between 1 September 2023 and 30 April 2024 will be subject to BMSB seasonal measures.

Goods manufactured in or shipped as sea cargo from a target risk country between 1 September 2023 and 30 April 2024 will be subject to BMSB seasonal measures.

Target risk countries include Belgium, France, Germany, Italy, Portugal and the USA.

The UK and China have been identified as emerging risk countries for the -BMSB risk season and may be selected for a random onshore inspection.

BMSB seasonal measures include the requirement for all target high risk goods treated in target risk countries to be BSMB treated by a treatment provider. Treatments include heat, Methyl Bromide or Sulfuryl Fluoride.

Target high risk goods include wood or wooded material, ceramic products, glass and glassware, tools, Aluminium and articles thereof, machinery and equipment, vehicles and parts.
