Woodlanders take on 100 mile bike ride in support of Panathlon Challenge
A team of Woodlanders completed the Ride London Essex 100 this weekend to raise money for the Panathlon Challenge
On Sunday, 28th May, 11 motivated Woodlanders took part in the RideLondon Essex 100 charity bike ride in aide of the Panathlon Foundation. The Woodlanders joined tens of thousands of riders to take on the 100 mile route, cycling through Central London before heading out into the rolling Essex countryside, ultimately finishing the ride on the iconic Tower Bridge to cheers from Woodlanders who had also joined to offer their support.
“For the second consecutive year, Woodlanders from across the UK gathered to take on the Ride London 100 mile cycle challenge to help raise funds for our long-standing charity partner, Panathlon. What a fabulous weekend it was with the sun shining down on all riders and supporters, and the Panathlon support crew on hand to assist the entire team. It was a really well organised event, and the crowds were out along the entire route which was inspirational and encouraging for us all, in particular for the last 10-15 mile marker. Well done to all involved and thank you to those that have supported generously, every little bit makes a difference. We are all looking forward to the next challenge to raise essential funds and awareness for the Panathlon Challenge charity.”, Sean Kirby, Director at Woodland Group, commented.
Ashley Iceton, Panathlon CEO, said, “I’m amazed at the efforts people will go to in order to support the charitable fundraising of Panathlon. This year we have a record amount of people committed to the cause. I can only thank those individuals and our sponsors for their literal blood, sweat and tears over the last few weeks, all these donations will make a massive difference to young Panathletes across the country.”
The Panathlon Foundation benefits the lives of thousands of young people with disabilities and special educational needs every year. The foundation works with disadvantaged young people in order to give them the opportunity to take part in competitive sport across England and North Wales.
