UPDATE - Expected Strike at India's largest container port

Following our recent report on India's largest container port, Jawaharlal Nehru Port (JNP) in Mumbai, preparing for strikes to commence on 24th May 2019, we would like to update you as follows:

Since the Jawaharlal Nehru Port Trust employees unions' announcement calling for a strike in JNPT terminal on Friday, May 24, 2019, the Labour Commissioner has seized the matter into conciliation with a hearing fixed for 24th May 2019.

Subsequently, the chances of the strike continuing to go ahead are expected to be minimal with the Jawaharlal Nehru Port Trust employees unions officially having called it off.

We will keep you updated of any further developments.
