UK Strikes: February industrial action to impact ports, airports and European roadfreight
Next month will see UK Border Force staff walk out as part of planned strikes by Public and Commercial Services union members
Members of the Public and Commercial Services (PCS) union are set to stage a walk out beginning on Wednesday, 1st February, and ending at 7am on Thursday, 2nd February 2023.
The union, which is said to have around 100,000 members planning to take part in the industrial action, includes UK border force staff based both at UK ports and airports and at UK border controls in France. This will cause disruption to supply chains travelling via air and ocean during this time in addition to European road freight which may also pass through UK border checkpoints.
The strike forms part of a wider coordinated action strategy by civil servants. Over 100,000 members of the Public and Commercial Services union spanning 124 departments and public bodies voted in favour of the industrial action with the demand of a 10% pay increase.
Although the strikes are not scheduled to continue on February 2nd there may be disruption to services during the morning as normal service resumes.
We are in contact with the relevant operators and are looking into possible alternative options to avoid any potential disruption to your upcoming bookings. If you have any questions as to an upcoming booking, please contact us here enquiries@woodlandgroup.com.
