Trans-Atlantic freight – Reduction in capacity
The US government announced that it will not be permitting international passenger flights from the U.K. nor Ireland to enter or depart from the US, effective Monday, 16th March.
This decision has had an immediate impact on air cargo capacity and on pricing levels. The majority of airlines will continue to fly this week but with planned capacity reductions from Friday. Air freight rates have increased significantly by all the major carriers as a result of this situation.
Please be advised that, as a result of these market increases, we will be unable to maintain the pricing levels that we have had in place up until 16th March and will need to pass through the increases from our airline partners.
We are pleased to report that our teams in the USA, UK and Ireland have so far been successful in getting access to capacity and will continue to work on securing space for our regular cargo movements. Our sales and customer service staff that look after your business at Woodland will be in touch to discuss the options available to you during this period.
