German Strikes: Railways, ports and airports impacted by one-day strikes
Strikes by members of Germany's ver.di and EVG unions have disrupted the country's transport sector
The one-day strike by German unions, including ver.di and EVG have caused disruption across the country as ports, airports and railways have seen operations impacted.
The 2 unions, representing around 2.7 million workers in Germany, called strikes across the transport network with the aim of seeking higher wages for workers to mitigate the impact of rising inflation.
As a result of the industrial action, airports such as Munich and Frankfurt have grounded flights whilst the labour walkout at the port of Hamburg has seen vessel movements cease for 48 hours in addition to restrictions on all vessels over 90m.
