Customer Advisory - Asia capacity - Preparation needed

As per our update from 10th July, please be reminded to make bookings well in advance of sailings to minimise any potential disruption to your Asia ocean shipments due to the ongoing capacity shortage.

Throughout April, May and June 2020, all 3 carrier global alliances cancelled at least four times as many East-West sailings as in the same quarter of 2019, with up to 20% of containers rolled across the various routes.

Going into Q3, capacity across all trade lanes will remain limited or, in some cases, will decline further, as predicted across the Asia - North America, Asia - Oceania and North America-Europe routes.

Capacity on the Asia-Europe routes will remain tight, with the structural blank sailing programme to continue into Q3 to balance out the supply and demand, and the extension of service suspensions having been announced by key carriers.

We expect this capacity shortage to continue until the end of Q3 and will provide further updates for Q4 in due course.

Please book well in advance of sailings and share your container forecasts where possible to aid in securing space and to minimise delays and disruption.

We thank you for your continued support.

Please contact your local Woodland representative with any questions or concerns or get in touch with one of our global teams here.
