Brexit Checklist: EU Freight Bookings

As we get closer and closer to the end of the Transition Period (31st December 2020 - 3 weeks to go!), we count down the weeks by highlighting areas that are key in preparing your business for the new trading models in 2021.

This week: EU Freight Bookings

If you book freight movements to/from the EU with us, please read this!

From 1st January 2021, customs declarations will be required for goods imported into or exported out of the UK. Freight bookings will be made as they are done currently, but extra information will be necessary.
For customs purposes we will require a commercial invoice and your customs clearance instructions.

So that we can ‘dry run’ before 2021 we will require this information for all freight bookings from December 14th 2020.

For Exports to the EU we will require confirmation at time of booking that your customer has a clearing agent and for full loads we will need to know the required place of clearance. Please bear in mind your Incoterms.

We will require customs related paperwork at least 24 hours prior to collection of the confirmed transport.

We would request that you continue to book with your current Woodland Group contact person, they will be able to advise you if any key information is missing from your booking.

If you have any questions or concerns, please contact us here.
