Brexit Checklist: EORI Numbers

As we get closer and closer to the end of the Transition Period (31st December 2020 - 7 weeks to go!), we count down the weeks by highlighting areas that are key in preparing your business for the new trading models in 2021.

This week: EORI NUMBERS

Economic Operator Registration and Identification (EORI) numbers are required if a company wishes to export to or import from the EU after the end of the transition period on 31st December 2020.

HMRC have been automatically issuing EORI numbers to UK VAT registered businesses in the lead up to 2021, so you may already have one.

Better safe than sorry though, so be sure to check.

Easy! Click HERE and enter GB followed by your 9 digit VAT number, followed by 3 zeros. If it shows your company information once you’ve pressed ‘validate’, then you have an EORI number. Phew!

If it turns out you don’t have an EORI number, it’s super easy to get one. Simply apply HERE.

It’s completely free, only takes around 5 minutes and your EORI number will be issued within 5 working days.

COMING UP:

All you need to know about tariff codes and why they are going to be so important for UK/EU trade.
