UK road transport delays
As school summer holidays kick off across England today, millions are expected to travel this weekend, further exacerbating travel issues across the country.
Travellers attempting to use the ferry to France from Dover being warned to bring water and food supplies as they face waits of four hours or longer while the EuroShuttle at Folkestone is advising of three hour delays.
Road transport from the UK to Europe is also impacted, with lorry drivers reporting wait times of more than 15 hours, leading Dover port to declare a "critical incident".
The port in Kent is blaming “woefully inadequate staffing” in France and while traffic is moving, the backlog will take some time to clear. Meanwhile, fuel protesters are slowing traffic on key routes including the M4, M5, M32 and A38 while traffic has also hit the M25.
Delays to supply chains into Europe from the UK are expected to continue as work continues to clear the backlog.
