India announces lockdown

Following the last few days of increasingly restricted movement, the Government of India today placed the entire country and its 1.3 billion people on a 21-day lockdown from midnight on 24th March onwards.

Update - the lockdown in India was today extended until 3rd May.

All businesses except for those providing the essentials, such as grocery stores and related cold storage and warhouses, will be working from home.  

All transport services, except for those delivering essential goods, will remain suspended.
