India Air and Sea Update

Below you can find a current sea and air transport update for India's ports and airports.

Kerala Flood:  

  • Most of the carriers including Air India, GoAir, IndiGo operate flights from Trivandrum / Chennai & Bangalore Airport instead of Cochin Airport.  


BANGALORE– AIR 

  • Heavy Back log at Airport, due to peak season WY & EK are only accepting Perishable and Express rate cargo for the movement. 
  • EY withdraw their Freighter from BLR 
  • QR has reduced the freighter from 2 to 1 per week from 20thAug 2018 onwards. 
  • Most of the airlines increased the rates drastically 
  • Generally, cargo is taking 5 to 6 days minimum transit for Europe. Most of the airlines are not giving any commitment for ETA under normal rates. 
  • Most of the Airlines are closing their flights 4 or 5 days prior flight departure date so need to give the booking to Airline one-week in advance to secure the space / booking confirmation.


CHENNAI –Sea Export 

  • Normal 

CHENNAI –Sea Import

  • Sea Import is having little congestion at Port to move out the containers, it takes 2 to 3 days’ time to move the container to CFS.

 

CHENNAI – AIR 

  • Chennai Airport is facing the peak season issue, especially for Europe from their Respective HUB.
  • Air India shed Airport Operation is under very pathetic situation.
  • Emirates & Turkish Air Line Shifted their operation of handling from Authority shed to Air India shed, so now a day’s heavy rush at Air India shed, because as very small space in Air India shed compare to Authority shed, vehicles are waiting more than 1 day for offloading the cargo.
  • Chennai Air India shed is facing congestion due to Emirates has changed their authority shed to Air India shed so taking 3-4 days for clearance.   Presently Air India is not accepting any Europe shipment as they have heavy back log over there.
  • Cochin Airport closed all the cargo moving to Trivandrum / Chennai & Bangalore Airport instead of Cochin Airport, all the Air Lines are going full if any URGENT shipment Air Line accepting only Express rates.
  • MK not accepting any Europe shipment since MRU to CDG flights are going full, MK having Payload restriction due to more Passenger Baggage.
  • EY reduced their freighters from 3 to 2 (Mon & Wed) only.
  • Due to last week QR Freighter cancellation there are heavy back log at Chennai Air Port with other carriers.
  • Jet Airways – Direct flight having Pay Load problem due to full passenger load baggage. So that they are moving cargo via Mumbai flights

 

COCHIN – SEA

  • All Cochin Port – Due to heavy rain & flood all CFS are closed for time being, no operation going on.  

   

COCHIN – AIR

  • Due to heavy rain & floods – Cochin Air Port closed from 18thto 20th Aug, 2018 still not accepting any cargo movement, and International flights do not operate.  
  • Most the carriers including Air India, GoAir, IndiGo operate flights from Trivandrum / Chennai & Bangalore Airport instead of Cochin Airport. 

 

TUTICORIN – SEA 

  • Normal  

KOLKATA SEA 
Sea Export:

  • Kolkata Sea Port is facing lots of problem in regards of sailing by feeder vessel. 
    For the last 2-3 weeks, all feeder vessels have been getting delayed by one week minimum from the given ETD. 

Sea Import:

  • Kolkata Sea Port is facing lot of problem in regards of berthing by feeder vessel. 
    For the last 2-3 weeks, all feeder vessels have been getting delayed by one week minimum from the given ETD.


KOLKATA AIR

All the airlines are going full and most of the airlines are accepting booking under express rates for immediate connection. At normal rate, shipment space will be obtained after 4 to 5 days of booking based on space availability. Airlines are giving priority to Express Cargo. 

MUMBAI – SEA

Sea Export:

JNPT - NORMAL.
NSICT - Congestion and expected rush in coming weeks 
GTI - Congestion and expected rush in coming weeks 
NSIGT - Congestion and expected rush in coming weeks 
BMCT - NORMAL 

Due to Monsoon season, we expect heavy rains in Mumbai in week 33 resulting in delay of shipments


Sea Import:
JNPT - NORMAL and expected rush in coming weeks 
NSICT - NORMAL and expected rush in coming weeks 
GTI - NORMAL and expected rush in coming weeks 
NSIGT - NORMAL Congestion and expected rush in coming weeks

  • Most of the airlines increased their rates drastically
  • Most of the airlines have heavy backlog and accept bookings well in advance with delays in transit.  
  • General Cargo is taking 5 to 6 days minimum transit for Europe/US.  

AHMEDABAD 
Sea Export - Normal 
Sea Import - Normal 
Air Export - Normal 

HYDRABAD  
Sea Export - Congestion in ICD due to installation of New Kalmar 
Sea Import - Congestion in ICD due to installation of New Kalmar
Air Export/Import - Normal 

DELHI – SEA
Sea Export :

  • ICD Loni: 5-6 days for railing to Nhava Sheva / Mumbai and Mundra Port
  • ICD Faridabad: Currently rail movement is normal 3-4 days
  • CFS Patparganj [PPG]: Currently Rail movement from Patparganj to Nhava Sheva / Mumbai and Mundra via Loni take 4-5 days min 
  • ICD Dadri: Pendency of 4-5 days for railing to Nhava Sheva / Mumbai / Mundra and Pipavav Port
  • ICD: Tughlakabad (TKD): 3-4 days time by rail to Nhava Sheva / Mumbai Mundra and Pipavav Port (Transit time from Tughlakabad to Mundra 3–4 days) 


Sea Import:

  • From Nhava Sheva Port 
    FCL- containers taking 7-8 days to rail out for import shipments. 
    LCL shipments taking 10-12 days to rail out for import shipments after reworking. 
  • From Mundra: Containers are taking 12-15 days to rail out for import shipments to TKD Delhi and 5-6 days to rail out for import shipments to Garhi Harsu [GDL]. (550 container pendency at port)
  • From Pipavav – Containers are taking 15-20 days to rail out from port to ICD PPG (weekly one train DP world and pendency same)

 

DELHI – AIR 

Air Export:  

  • Most of the Airlines increased their rates drastically
  • Most of the Airlines have heavy backlog and accepting booking well in advance with delay in transit.  
  • General Cargo is taking 5 to 6 days minimum transit for Europe/US. 

Air Import: 

  • Normal

Segregation of Cargo/shipments in warehouse taking +1 day after landing the flight 

 

KANPUR – SEA

Sea Import:

  • From Nhava Sheva Port:
    FCL- Containers taking 7-8 days to rail out from port. 
    LCL shipments taking 12-15 days to rail out for import shipments after reworking. 
  • From Mundra: Containers are taking 12-15 days to rail out from port to Kanpur
