If you’d like to understand how Woodland could support your own sustainability goals, our Green Team would be glad to talk it through.

Book and Claim Service Introduced

In 2025, Woodland Group introduced a comprehensive Book & Claim service, enabling customers to reduce their Scope 3 emissions by financing the use of low-carbon fuels across air, sea and road freight. Customers can purchase the environmental benefits of Sustainable Aviation Fuel (SAF), sustainable marine biofuels or biodiesel without those fuels needing to be physically used on their own shipments.

Instead, the fuels are blended and consumed elsewhere in the transport network, with the resulting emissions reductions independently verified and allocated exclusively to the funding customer. This approach supports investment in sustainable fuels, accelerates industry decarbonisation and provides an immediate, credible way for businesses to reduce emissions. Woodland is proud to have launched this service across its entire network in 2025.

Tackling Business Travel With Sustainable Aviation Fuel (SAF)

Recognising that some global air travel will remain necessary, Woodland Group has adopted a strategic approach to managing business travel emissions through the voluntary purchase of Sustainable Aviation Fuel (SAF). In 2025, Woodland used a Book & Claim model to purchase SAF certificates equivalent to 50 metric tonnes of CO₂e, reducing its air business travel emissions by almost 28%.

This approach helps stimulate demand for SAF and support the scaling of a fuel source capable of reducing lifecycle emissions by up to 80% compared to conventional jet fuel. Alongside efforts to reduce travel and promote virtual collaboration, Woodland views these investments as an important step towards its net-zero ambitions and wider transport industry decarbonisation.

Decarbonising Customer Supply Chains Through Modal Shift

In 2025, Woodland Group partnered with itsu [grocery] to reduce the carbon impact of freight moving from Spain to the UK by shifting a key route from traditional road transport to a short sea shipping model. This targeted modal shift delivered a 56% reduction in transport emissions while maintaining the speed, reliability, and cost efficiency required for the food and beverage sector.

The initiative highlights how close collaboration, robust freight data, and practical low-carbon logistics solutions can deliver immediate and measurable environmental benefits, while creating a scalable blueprint for further supply chain decarbonisation.
