The Team Leader – FLT will work closely with the Warehouse Supervisor, FLT drivers, Warehouse Operatives, and the Stock Control and Admin teams to ensure the efficient and safe movement of goods within the warehouse.
You will lead the FLT team across the night shift, ensuring all activities such as loading, unloading, putaway, and picking are executed efficiently, safely, and in line with operational targets. The role is hands-on and requires leadership from within the operation, supporting flow, maintaining standards, and acting as the first point of contact for the FLT workforce.
About the Job:
Nightly FLT Operations
Lead by example through safe and accurate operation of FLT equipment (Counterbalance, Reach, PPT, etc.).
Support and carry out all FLT functions including:
Loading and unloading trailers
Putaway of stock into warehouse
Picking pallets for outbound loads
Stock relocations (Bin-bin) and replenishments
Monitor warehouse flow across all functions and work with supervisors to adjust resource where needed.
Team Leadership
Act as first-line support for the FLT team during the shift.
Assist in task allocation and team briefings at the start of shift.
Support on-the-job training and buddying of new FLT drivers.
Promote a high-performance culture by maintaining pace, safety, and attention to detail.
Health & Safety / Equipment
Ensure safe operation of all materials handling equipment across the team.
Complete daily MHE checks and log defects in line with site procedures.
Maintain housekeeping standards across bays, aisles, and high-traffic zones.
Communication and Issue Escalation
Communicate operational updates, issues, or delays to the Warehouse Supervisor.
Ensure effective shift handovers by passing on relevant updates to incoming team leaders or supervisors.
Collaborate with Stock, Admin, and Transport to resolve issues in real-time.
About You:
Valid FLT licence(s) for required site equipment.
Strong experience working in a warehouse environment across loading, picking, and putaway operations.
Demonstrated ability to lead a team or experience in an acting-up position.
Strong awareness of safety standards and warehouse compliance.
Ability to work under pressure and adapt to changing priorities.
Reliable, punctual, and confident in decision-making.
Support process changes that improve warehouse efficiency and safety.
Encourage team feedback and share improvement ideas with the Warehouse Supervisor.
Lead by example in adopting new procedures or technology.
