Accounts Assistant - 9 month FTC - Chelmsford

Woodland Group are recruiting an Accounts Assistant to join our team at our Head Office in Chelmsford, Essex. Reporting to the Financial Controller and working closely with the Accounts Team, the Accounts Assistant will provide vital support to the Management Accounts team working in accordance with established procedures and guidelines. The position will require liaising with suppliers, external offices for the Woodland Group division.

About the role:
Daily bank reconciliation
Daily reporting of all payments for Cashflow figures
Liaising with purchase ledger for any refunds
Take responsibility for Unallocated cash report
Responsible for a debtor’s ledger
Resolving outstanding payment queries
Weekly reporting on own debt balances detailing action points and promised payments.
Ensure that on hold accounts, prevention and credit exceed procedures are adhered to.
Resolve day to day credit control issues and problem accounts in a timely and efficient manner, understanding how and when to escalate these.
Monitor and manage the credit control inbox.
Credit checks new customers, set limits and terms adhering to the approval processes.
Regularly review and propose customer trading trends and put together proposals for increasing credit limits and terms.
Liaise with Purchase ledger with regards to contras.
Provide anticipated receipts analysis to assist in cash flow planning.
Data cleansing to help with changing of systems, and;
Any other duties as required by management for the smooth and efficient operation of the department
Posting and allocating BACS or Cheque payments from the bank statement to the ledger
Personal Specification
You have previous experience in an accounts role, ideally within a high transaction environment.
You have advanced MS Excel skills
You are well organised, prioritising and working within key deadlines in a fast-paced environment;
You have the ability to work thoroughly, methodically with an excellent attention to detail;
You can work collaboratively with other members of the team as well as key stakeholders across the group;
You have the natural ability and enjoy building and maintaining strong working relationships;
You excel with a team environment as well as being able to work autonomously when required;
You are flexible, adaptable, and open minded and respond well to the ever-changing priorities and challenges while remaining calm and focussed on getting the job done;
You are proactive looking at ways to improve processes and have the initiative to put them forward and where possible into practice;
You actively seek ways to enhance your knowledge and improve your performance; and
You are self-motivated, have huge drive and ambition – you thrive off achieving great success and helping to build a great place to work!
