Typhoon Fung-wong: Asia Supply Chain and Freight Update
Typhoon Fung-wong has impacted the Philippines and is moving toward Taiwan, causing evacuations, power outages, and temporary transport and port disruptions. Woodland Group is closely monitoring the situation to assess potential effects on freight and supply chain operations. Teams across Asia remain actively engaged to ensure service continuity and implement contingency plans as needed.
Woodland Group is closely monitoring developments in Southeast Asia following Typhoon Fung-wong, which has brought severe weather conditions to the Philippines and is now tracking toward Taiwan.
The typhoon has caused significant disruption across parts of Luzon Island, including the Manila region, resulting in evacuations, power outages, and the temporary suspension of some transport and port activities.
Local authorities continue to assess infrastructure damage and restore critical services. Taiwan has also implemented precautionary measures ahead of the typhoon’s arrival, including flight cancellations and port safety advisories.
Woodland Group is maintaining close communication with operational and carrier partners across the region, including Taiwan, to assess any potential impact on freight flows and supply chain connectivity.
At present, no major disruption has been reported to Woodland Group’s global services; however, the following regional factors are being monitored:
- Port operations in the Philippines may experience short-term delays due to weather-related closures and post-storm recovery efforts.
- Air freight and port operations in Taiwan are subject to precautionary slowdowns and may see schedule adjustments as the typhoon passes and conditions stabilise.
- Air freight schedules from Manila and other affected hubs are being adjusted as airport operations resume and capacity is reviewed.
- Feeder and transshipment services across Southeast Asia, including connections via Taiwan and southern China, may face minor schedule variations depending on ongoing weather patterns.
Woodland Group’s teams across Asia continue to work closely with partners and carriers to ensure service continuity and proactive contingency planning where required. Further updates will be issued should conditions materially affect transit times or routing across the region.
