Woodland Group is monitoring a nationwide general strike scheduled to take place across Italy on Friday, 12 December 2025. The action, organised by the trade union confederation CGIL, is expected to cause disruption across both public and private sectors, with transport and logistics services among the areas most likely to be affected.

The strike will run for the full day and is anticipated to create significant challenges across Italian transport networks. Rail operators have already announced widespread cancellations between 00:01 and 21:00, impacting long-distance, regional and local services. These interruptions may affect wider supply-chain movements, including inland access to ports, airports and major logistics hubs. Road freight may also experience delays, with the potential for reduced vehicle availability, longer turnaround times and isolated road blockages that could impact scheduled collections and deliveries.

Woodland Group confirms that our teams will remain operational throughout the strike and will do their utmost to maintain planned pickups and deliveries. However, we advise that independent blockages and localised disruption remain possible and may impact services despite contingency measures. This action takes place alongside other sector-specific strikes planned throughout December, including ferry, aviation and public transport stoppages, which may collectively contribute to further operational constraints.
