ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

Perform all duties in a professional manner in order to set and encourage reporting staff to produce similar performance.

  • Motivate reporting staff to ensure best performance at all times.
  • Plan, direct and control all branch activities on a day to day basis.
  • Manage and develop staff, in conjunction with performance appraisals, focus on training requirements and general development to meet business needs.
  • Recruit branch staff in accordance with HR procedures and budgeted headcount ensuring establishment and maintenance of job descriptions.
  • Plan and manage branch activities ensuring staffing levels are adequate for business fluctuations, ensuring overtime and temporary staff are monitored and maintained within branch budget levels.
  • Monitor, authorize and report vacation entitlement as and when requested by HR, ensuring staff levels are maintained at a workable level.
  • Monitor, authorize and report sickness absence to HR on a monthly basis. Ensuring return to work interviews are conducted as and when requested by HR.
  • Provide monthly budget reports to include, additional staffing costs, and any other relevant business information as requested by the VP of Operations.
  • Report and present achievement of KPI’s on a monthly basis as and when requested by the VP of Operations.
  • Investigate and resolve any disciplinary or employee relations issues in line with Company HR procedures ensuring best practice is adhered to at all times.
  • Develop constructive relationships with key customers and key suppliers, resolving any concerns and ensuring corrective action is taken.
  • Undertaking account management duties with key customers across all trades within the Group.
  • Maintain effective communication and relationship with overseas offices/agents.
  • Identify and provide early warning of likely issues and problems that could have an adverse effect on deadlines and or margin. Recommend or initiate solutions to reduce the impact.
  • Liaise where appropriate with operational and sales departments, advising them of all relevant information and updates as and when required.
  • Review and update branch procedures on an ongoing basis in line with company procedures, ensuring that all such changes are communicated to staff ensuring that any training requirements are fully met.
  • In accordance with accounts procedures, ensure that your team take full ownership of all accounting issues and queries, should your branch be affected.
  • Ensure month end routines at your branch including checking, reporting, and billing is consistent with company standards and is produced monthly in a timely manner.
  • Have a flexible attitude towards responding to the demands that changing business opportunities may present.
  • Positive attitude to change to be able to recognise opportunities and implement new processes to improve services and efficiency.
  • Candidates should have Minimum 5 years’ experience of management, P&L Management experience, preferably Multi-trade experience (air/ocean import/export)
  • Self-motivated.
  • Flexible, open to change.
  • Supportive approach.
  • Able to manage a heavy workload.
  • Confident and influential manner.
  • Ability to develop strong working relationships with colleagues.
  • Confident about taking decisions and giving advice; and
  • Good interpersonal skills including tact and discretion.
