Woodland Group are recruiting a part-time Accounts Assistant for one of our companies International Food Link in Maldon, Essex. Working 21 hours a week (3 days 9-5) The Accounts Assistant will report to the Management Accountant and will work closely with the International Food Link Management team. The Accounts Assistant will provide vital support to the IFL Accounts team working in accordance with established procedures and guidelines. The position will require liaising with suppliers, external offices for the International Food Link division. .

100% office-based, 3 days per week 9am-5pm

About the role

  • Processing sales invoices and assisting with credit control.
  • Monitoring sales and purchase ledger deadlines, chasing where necessary;
  • Receiving and processing purchase invoices, staff expenses and liaising with suppliers in a timely manner
  • Preparing weekly payment runs.
  • Handle all aspects of cash allocation and reconciling IFL and Agent accounts;
  • Supporting the preparation of monthly management information.
  • Assist with month and year end, including preparation of balance sheets;
  • Assist with providing profit & loss reporting and analysis;
  • Assisting with and administering foreign exchange schedules and payments;
  • Assist with administering the asset register;
  • Maintaining various records and spreadsheets;
  • Verifying calculations working with the Accounts system;
  • Assisting with reconciliation of Direct Debit mandates
  • Prepare and post journals;
  • Review and monitor overheads and invoices chasing where necessary;
  • Provide cover within the Accounts team where needed;
  • Building and maintaining external and internal relationships;
  • Any other duties as required by management for the smooth and efficient operation of the department.
  • Work with the Finance team to continually improve processes and business performance;
  • Support changes in the role necessary to take the department and business forward; and
  • Work to achieve personal objectives set at appraisal and/or those set monthly or quarterly.

About you:

Essential

  • Experience in a similar accounts position.
  • Working knowledge of Sales and purchase ledger .
  • Strong understanding of cash allocation, reconciling preparing weekly payment runs.
  • High attention to detail and accuracy.
  • Strong communication skills with a proactive problem‑solving approach.
  • Ability to manage time effectively and work to tight deadlines.
  • Competent in Microsoft Office (Outlook, Excel, Word).
