Woodland introduces carbon-conscious packaging alternative
As part of the continued drive to reduce our own and our clients’ carbon footprint, we have decided to make the switch from plastic wrap to recycled paper as cushioning material for our fulfilment operations
Having sourced a sustainable solution that aims to reduce carbon output by 75%, May saw 3 recycled paper converters installed across our key fulfilment hubs in the UK. The aim is to reduce at least 1 ton of carbon from eCommerce operations per month during the initial 3 months trial period before commencing its global rollout and application across all hubs.
Investment has been made into the latest cushioning technology available, allowing for a more voluminous pad to be created through said converters, delivering perfect cushioning while using even less paper. The eco-friendly packaging solution with Ecoline (70 and 90 gsms) paper configuration will see the use of recycled paper from MacFarlane Group to deliver our fulfilment clients safely and carbon-consciously.
Caroline Murphy, Fulfilment Operations Manager at Woodland Group, comments: “We’re excited to have found this solution, which promises to make a significant impact on reducing our own and our clients’ carbon output. We’ve spent a lot of time researching the right solution for us, and we’re delighted to have found one that promises to not only deliver on our promise to reduce the carbon impact of the supply chain industry but aims to reduce cost in the long run - more carbon-conscious doesn’t always need to mean more costly!”
