US CBP Announces Merchandise Processing Fee (MPF) Increase from 1st October 2019

Starting October 1st, 2019, the Merchandise Processing Fee (MPF) minimum rate and maximum rate will increase.

The Merchandise Processing Fee is a fee imposed by U.S. Customs and Border Protection (CBP) for most U.S. imports.

This increase is due to the Consolidated Omnibus Budged Reconciliation Act (COBRA) for Fiscal Year 2020 implemented by CBP regulations.

The rate for informal entries (which involves the importation of merchandise that does not exceed $2,500 in value) will increase from $2.10 to $2.14.

The minimum rate for formal entries (which involves the importation of merchandise that exceeds $2,500 in value) will increase from $26.22 to $26.79

The maximum rate for formal entries will increase from $508.70 to $519.76

The base rate of 0.3464% for the MPF will not change.
