UK Customs: Humanitarian Aid
UK government amends customs processes for humanitarian aid
On Friday, 10th March, customs declarations/transit documents were still needed for exports of humanitarian aid to Ukraine. However, the UK government announced a customs easement that will apply to goods being exported from GB, which are intended to support those affected by the humanitarian crisis in Ukraine. The simplified processes apply to qualifying goods provided they are not exported to or through Russia or Belarus.
Only certain goods can be taken out of Great Britain using this simplified process. This may include goods such as clothes, blankets and sanitary products, but other goods may qualify.
More information on the goods that you can and cannot export using the simplified process can be found here.
Some but not all EU countries have implemented similar easements for UK humanitarian aid and officials are taking a pragmatic approach to facilitating the movement of such cargoes.
