UK Customs advisory: HMRC push back CDS declaration date

CDS declaration deadline extension announced following consultations between HMRC and the border industry

Following our most recent CHIEF to CDS advisory, HMRC have this month made the decision to delay the initial CDS declaration date for exports from 31st March, 2023 to 30th November, 2023.

The decision has been confirmed after consultations between HMRC and border stakeholders highlighted that an increased preparation time for the Customs Declaration Service would be needed for a smooth transition, this includes customer preparation and software implementation.

The increased time will allow for HMRC's IT functionality to undergo rigorous testing and is designed to enable increased training and support for export declarants and industry bodies.

No immediate action is needed and any further updates will be communicated once announced. If you have any questions in the meantime, please get in touch with our dedicated customs team.
