No further strike action planned as Felixstowe workers reach pay agreement
Workers at the UK's biggest container port have reached an agreement over pay, quashing chances of further strikes
This week, workers at the port of Felixstowe reached an agreement with Hutchison Ports over a 2023 pay deal following multiple rejected deals and strike action.
Voted in by more than 90% of the port's workforce, the new deal includes a bonus of £1,000 on top of an 8.5% pay increase.
The agreement has come as welcome news on the back of multiple strikes, as the resultant congestion and supply chain diversions caused delays across many UK and European services.
In addition to the latest pay deal, it has also been announced that the port of Felixstowe will invest into technology to combat increasingly high labour costs as it looks to introduce 'Autonomous Tractor Units' to improve efficiency and handling operations across its terminals.
