China COVID-19 Update November 2022
China sees record level of COVID-19 lockdowns as positive cases surge across the country
Following our latest China COVID update, lockdown levels have soared to new highs as COVID-19 cases continue to increase. Experts have said that due to the number of cities in 'partial lockdown' the current situation has a much further reaching effect than Spring's Shanghai lockdowns, however, there are currently very few 'hard lockdowns'.
It is estimated that the current lockdowns stretch across manufacturing hubs, commercial areas and residential zones responsible for one fifth of China's overall GDP.
On the back of the relaxation of COVID rules 2 weeks ago, the country has seen daily new case numbers rise to 55,616 on Wednesday, 23rd November with Beijing, Guangzhou and Chongqing amongst the areas experiencing the most significant outbreaks. Beijing's Centre for Disease Control stated that the current situation is as challenging and complex an environment as the start of the pandemic.
