Changes in requirements to claim preferential rates of Duty

To benefit from preferential rates of Duty between the UK and the EU from January 1st, your EU supplier must provide a statement on origin to conform that the goods are indeed of EU origin (if applicable).

Suggested wording for this statement is as follows:

The exporter of the products covered by this document (EORI / Exporter Reference No ... (1) declares that, except where otherwise clearly indicated, these products are of ... (2) preferential origin and that the origin criterion met is …(3)

……………………………………………………………..............................

(4)(Place and date)

……………………………………………………………..............................

(Name of the exporter)

  1. For UK exports, the shipper's EORI should be shown. For EU exports the same will apply except where the value is over 6,000 Euros in which case the shipper should apply for and show their Exporter Reference Number (REX).
  2. Enter the origin of the goods (Must be member state specific and not a generic ‘EU origin’).
  3. Products wholly obtained: enter the letter ‘P’; Products sufficiently processed: enter the letter ‘W’ followed by a heading of the Harmonised System (example ‘W’ 9618).
  4. This may be omitted if included in the document itself.
